Privacy Policy.
We take data protection seriously. No boilerplate — just what actually matters for our website.

The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
The CodeCave GmbH Alfred-Nobel-Straße 2950226 Frechen
Germany
Managing Directors: Aleksandar Jovanovic, Tilman Kieselbach

Website Operator & Related Products
This website (thecodecave.de) is operated by The CodeCave GmbH, which is the controller within the meaning of the GDPR for the processing described here.
RoadReview is a separate product of RoadReview GmbH (an affiliated company registered at the same address, Alfred-Nobel-Straße 29, 50226 Frechen, Germany). Where we reference RoadReview or other products and link to external offerings (e.g. the Apple App Store, Google Play or product pages), the privacy policies of the respective providers apply. Simply visiting this website does not transmit any personal data to RoadReview GmbH.
Collection and Processing
We collect personal data only when you voluntarily provide it to us — for example via our contact form, by email or by phone. This may include:
- Name and contact details
- Company information
- The content of your enquiry
When simply visiting our website, we do not store any personal data. No profiles are created and no data is passed on to third parties for advertising purposes.
Legal Basis
The processing of your data is based on Article 6 GDPR:
- Art. 6 (1) lit. a — Consent, if you have given it to us
- Art. 6 (1) lit. b — Performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures
- Art. 6 (1) lit. f — Legitimate interest in functional communication
Contact and Callback Form
On our Discuss your project page you can request a callback. In doing so we process the data you provide:
- Name and, where applicable, company
- Contact channel and details (phone or email) and your preferred time slot
- the tools you selected, your description of the bottleneck and the solution ideas you chose
The sole purpose is to get in touch or call you back to explore a possible project. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR) and the performance of pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR).
Your details are stored for processing in our internal CRM system (CodeReach), which is operated on our behalf by the technical service provider Convex as a processor on servers within the EU. In addition or as a fallback, the data is sent by email to info@thecodecave.de. No data is passed on to any further third party for advertising purposes. Your details are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for processing, at the latest after 12 months, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Cookies and Tracking
This website sets no cookies of its own and uses neither Google Analytics nor Facebook Pixel. Your language preference is controlled solely via the URL (paths without a prefix for German, /en/… for English) — no cookies or local storage are used for this.
Web Analytics with Rybbit
To analyse website usage statistically, we use Rybbit, privacy-friendly web analytics software that we host ourselves (server location: in Germany). No cookies are set and no cross-device profiles are created; no recording of user sessions (session replay) takes place.
When a page is requested, the following data is processed:
- truncated / anonymised IP address
- page requested (URL / path)
- referring page (referrer)
- browser, operating system and device type
- approximate origin (derived from the IP address, without precise location)
This data is evaluated in aggregated form only and does not allow any conclusions about individual persons. It is not shared with third parties; the data remains on our own servers.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the needs-based and reach-optimised design of our website pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. As no cookies are set and no personal profiles are created, no consent is required.
Right to object: You may object to this processing at any time with effect for the future — informally by email to info@thecodecave.de (Art. 21 GDPR). The anonymised analytics data is automatically deleted after 14 months.
Opt-out: You can disable tracking yourself at any time by running localStorage.setItem('disable-rybbit', '1') in your browser's developer tools (console). After that, no data whatsoever is collected on this device.
Hosting and Server Log Files
Our hosting provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files that your browser automatically transmits. These are:
- IP address (truncated / anonymised)
- Date and time of the request
- Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
- Content of the request (specific page)
- Access status / HTTP status code
- Amount of data transferred
- Website from which the request originates
- Browser and operating system
This data cannot be attributed to specific individuals. It is not merged with other data sources.
Data Sharing
Your personal data will not be transmitted to third parties for purposes other than those listed below. We only share your personal data with third parties if:
- You have given your express consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR),
- The disclosure is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR),
- There is a legal obligation to disclose (Art. 6 (1) lit. c GDPR).
Storage Period
We store your personal data only for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes for which the data was collected, or as required by statutory retention periods. Enquiries that do not lead to a project are deleted after 12 months.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request information about your data stored by us (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Request immediate correction of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Request deletion of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Request restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Request data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
To exercise these rights, simply send an email to info@thecodecave.de.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority is the state data protection authority of the federal state in which we have our registered office:

Newsletter
If you would like to subscribe to our newsletter, you currently do so by sending a personal request to the email address listed on the journal page (info@thecodecave.de). No automated sign-up form is in use; your email address is therefore only processed when you actively write to us.
In doing so, we process your email address and the time of your sign-up and confirmation in order to send you the newsletter. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR), which you give when subscribing. We confirm your addition to the mailing list by email.
The newsletter is sent through our own system; your data is not passed on to third parties for advertising purposes. We store your data until you unsubscribe. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by message to info@thecodecave.de. The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out up to that point.
